Private Birdwatching Day Trip to the Danube Delta

An Exclusive Offer by Discover Danube Delta

Step into the heart of one of Europe’s most extraordinary ecosystems. With our exclusive private birdwatching day trip, you’ll explore the wonders of the Danube Delta, guided by one of our experienced birding experts. This personalized experience is designed to immerse you in the world of the Delta’s diverse birdlife, showcasing its incredible flora and fauna in a way few get to experience.

The Trip

It’s a carefully crafted birdwatching experience. Starting at sunrise (for the best results), the day unfolds with a scenic journey through the Delta’s most enchanting routes. The trip runs from early morning to afternoon, covering marshlands, forested areas, lakes and saltwater sand islands, each home to various species of birds at different times of the year. Our pace is slow and steady, ensuring we focus on the right places where birds gather to feed or roost.

Your Guide

Your expert guide is a passionate and knowledgeable birdwatcher who knows the Danube Delta like the back of their hand. They’ll take you to the best birding spots, sharing insights on the bird species you encounter and teaching you how to approach them without causing disturbance. Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or just beginning to explore the world of birds, your guide will tailor the experience to your pace and interests.

The Route & Stops

Our birding trip begins in Tulcea, from our pontoon at Port Aval, and heads toward the charming Mila 23 village. Along the way, we’ll stop at some of the most fertile birding spots, from tranquil lakes to the vast, dry expanses of the Delta, where we’ll scan for birds with a field scope, to show you the rich fauna of this place. At midday, you’ll’ll take a break in Mila 23 to enjoy a delicious, locally inspired lunch (optional), a perfect way to recharge before continuing our birdwatching adventure.

Before You Go

To ensure the best experience, please let us know your preferred start and finish times and whether you have any specific bird species in mind. We’ll help you craft your wish list based on the species found in the region throughout the year. For an added advantage, download our checklist of birds from Dobrogea and the Danube Delta so you can familiarize yourself with the local avifauna ahead of time: Birds list of Dobruja and the Danube Delta.

🐟 Slow-Speed Exploration: Our approach is gentle and respectful. By moving at a slow, steady pace, we:

  • Protect aquatic vegetation, essential for fish breeding and water filtration.
  • Prevent erosion and disturbance to bird nests along the shoreline.
  • Reduce stress on migratory and resident bird species, allowing for natural behavior and better wildlife observation.

🌍 Sustainable Nature Experiences: We believe in responsible tourism that prioritizes conservation over speed. Every tour is an opportunity to admire, respect and learn about this unique biosphere without leaving a harmful footprint.
