This is a PRIVATE tour, offering a tailor-made experience with a boat and guide exclusively for your group.
Your journey starts from Port Tulcea Aval at the time of your choice, typically between 8:00-9:00 a.m. After a short briefing, you will board your private boat and set off on a 10-hour adventure through one of Europe’s last true wilderness areas.
As you cruise down the Tulcea Branch of the Danube, the urban landscape quickly fades, giving way to the serene beauty of the Delta. Within 15 minutes, you will find yourself deep in the heart of the Delta, where narrow, winding channels and hidden lakes reveal a mesmerizing world of reeds, floating vegetation, and a dazzling variety of birdlife.
Unlike fast-paced transfers, this trip allows you to take in every detail. You will move slowly through some of the most picturesque waterways, pausing to observe the natural rhythms of the Delta. Expect to see elegant great white pelicans, elusive kingfishers, and majestic white-tailed eagles soaring overhead.
After approximately 2.5 hours, you will arrive at Mila 23, a traditional Lipovan fishing village nestled deep in the Delta. Here, you can take a break, enjoy a coffee, and absorb the tranquil atmosphere of this unique settlement before continuing on your journey.
From Mila 23, the route takes you across remote northern lakes and wild channels for another 2 hours, leading you to Letea Village, one of the best-preserved traditional villages in Romania. The slow pace of life here, with its whitewashed houses and blue-painted wooden fences, feels like a step back in time.
At the village, you have the option to take a safari-style excursion to Letea Forest, the northernmost subtropical forest in Europe. This unique landscape is home to:
The 7-kilometer journey to the forest takes you across a striking savanna-like terrain before you continue on foot for about 20-30 minutes through the protected area, following a route approved by the Danube Delta Administration.
Back in Letea Village, you have the chance to enjoy a traditional lunch at a local household. Here, the menu is simple, authentic, and based on freshwater fish, prepared following age-old recipes.
Price: 15 EUR/person, paid directly to the hosts in cash.
Important: Meals are served in a fixed menu format, and cannot be customized or ordered on-site. If you’d like to book lunch, inform your guide in the morning.
After lunch, you will begin the return journey to Tulcea, traveling mostly along the same route. However, as any traveler knows, the scenery in the Delta looks completely different when seen from the opposite direction. The light changes, birds move to new areas and fresh surprises await at every turn.
You will arrive back in Tulcea after approximately 3 hours, bringing your adventure to a close.
