Danube Delta & Dobrogea Birding Tour 8d/7n SHARED 2026

A Birding Journey Through Two Wild Worlds

Start Your Adventure in the UNESCO Danube Delta

Your trip begins in the heart of the Danube Delta, one of Europe’s most extraordinary birding hotspots. Here, every sunrise feels like a quiet explosion of life. The wetlands open into lakes filled with reflections, the reed beds whisper in the wind, and the skies fill with pelicans, herons, cormorants, and countless migratory species moving with purpose and grace. It’s a place where water shapes everything, and every turn of the boat reveals something new, unexpected, and beautifully alive.

Continue Through the Untamed Landscapes of Dobrogea

From the softness of the Danube Delta, the journey shifts into the rugged charm of Dobrogea. The terrain becomes wilder, more dramatic, rocky hills, ancient forests, steppe plains, and silent valleys that feel almost untouched. This is where you look for raptors circling high above the cliffs, passerines moving through shrubs and grasslands, and steppe birds thriving in open, sun-drenched spaces. The contrast with the Danube Delta is stunning, and that contrast is what makes this tour so rich: water and land, wetlands and steppe, silhouettes and songbirds.

Your Experience Throughout the Week

You move smoothly between habitats, exploring the Danube Delta by boat and Dobrogea by car and light trekking, always at sunrise, always when birdlife is most active. You stay four nights in a comfortable 3-star guesthouse in Mila23, the village surrounded by pure wilderness, and three more nights in Tulcea, the perfect base for exploring Dobrogea. Each day brings a new piece of the puzzle, helping you feel how these two regions connect, complement each other, and create one of the most diverse birding areas in Europe.

Everything You Need Is Already Included

Your program covers the water transfers from Tulcea to Mila23 and back, seven nights of accommodation split between the Delta and Tulcea, half board throughout the tour, and the full guidance of a professional birdwatching guide. You enjoy three days of boat birding in the Delta, plus water transfers, and two and a half days exploring Dobrogea’s mainland landscapes. From early-morning departures to the last light of the day, every moment is crafted to give you the best opportunities to observe, learn, and enjoy.

The tour begins and ends in Tulcea, keeping everything simple, smooth, and easy to follow, so you can focus entirely on the birds and the landscapes that make this journey unforgettable.

Our Commitment to Conservation in the Danube Delta

Nature comes first in everything we do. Our tours are designed to minimize impact and protect the delicate ecosystem of the Danube Delta, ensuring that its rich biodiversity thrives for generations to come.

🚤 Eco-Friendly Boating: We use lower-power engines than typically required for our boats. This reduces water disturbance, minimizes fuel consumption and lowers emissions, keeping the Delta’s waters cleaner and healthier.

🐟 Slow-Speed Exploration: Our approach is gentle and respectful. By moving at a slow, steady pace, we:

  • Protect aquatic vegetation, essential for fish breeding and water filtration.
  • Prevent erosion and disturbance to bird nests along the shoreline.
  • Reduce stress on migratory and resident bird species, allowing for natural behavior and better wildlife observation.

🌍 Sustainable Nature Experiences: We believe in responsible tourism that prioritizes conservation over speed. Every tour is an opportunity to admire, respect and learn about this unique biosphere without leaving a harmful footprint.

By choosing our tours, you actively support a more sustainable way of exploring the Danube Delta. Let’s protect nature together, one slow, mindful journey at a time.
