Embark on a 10-day adventure that takes you from the soaring cliffs of Bulgaria to the vast wetlands of the Danube Delta, and finally to the open steppe and hills of Dobrogea. This tour blends raptor-watching, wetland birding, and steppe species into one unforgettable journey, guided by a professional birdwatching expert and timed perfectly to capture the magic of sunrise in every region. Whether you’re drawn to majestic vultures, flocks of pelicans, or the hidden gems of Dobrogea, this tour offers a complete and immersive birding experience across some of Eastern Europe’s most diverse landscapes.
Your adventure begins in the rugged Balkan Mountains of Bulgaria, where limestone cliffs rise dramatically against the sky. Here, Griffon and Cinereous Vultures soar with effortless grace, and every morning brings the thrill of observing these magnificent raptors in their natural habitat. The landscape is raw and open, offering sweeping views that make you feel truly immersed in the wild. It’s a perfect start to the tour, blending excitement, observation, and connection with Europe’s iconic vultures.
From the cliffs of Bulgaria, the journey flows north into Romania and the UNESCO-listed Danube Delta. Over four nights, you explore this watery world by boat, navigating channels, lakes, and reedbeds alive with birdlife. Pelicans glide low over the surface, terns dive for fish, herons stalk the shallows, and waders move gracefully along the banks. The mornings here are magical, quiet, golden, and full of life, giving you unforgettable encounters with the Delta’s diverse species.
The final part of the tour takes you to Dobrogea, a region of rocky hills, open steppe, and ancient forests. This area introduces a completely different set of species, from raptors patrolling the skies to steppe specialists hiding among the grasses and shrubs. Each day brings new discoveries, making you appreciate the contrast between wetlands and dry landscapes, and showing the full diversity of Romania’s birdlife.
Across ten days, you’ll enjoy nine nights of accommodation, half-board meals, and the guidance of a professional birdwatching expert. Eight days of birding are included, always starting at sunrise to make the most of the early activity. The tour begins and ends in Bucharest, ensuring smooth logistics so you can focus on the birds, the landscapes, and the memories you’ll carry home.
