Birding Tour Bulgaria & Danube Delta 7d/6n SHARED 2026

Your Birding Journey Across Bulgaria & Romania

You’re in for a week that mixes rugged mountain cliffs with peaceful wetlands and some of Europe’s most iconic birds along the way.
You start with the dramatic landscapes of Bulgaria’s Balkan Mountains, home to Griffon Vultures, Cinereous Vultures, and other mountain species. Then you move toward something completely different: the gentle waterways and wild beauty of the Danube Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a paradise for wetland birds.

It’s the perfect blend if you love both majestic raptors and rich aquatic birdlife, all in one carefully planned route.

Days in the Balkan Mountains

Meet Bulgaria’s Vultures

In the Balkans, you explore cliffs, gorges, and open skies where the big silhouettes rule the horizon. You spend your time watching:

  • Griffon Vultures soaring effortlessly
  • Cinereous Vultures patrolling ridgelines
  • Golden Eagles, Egyptian Vultures (seasonal), and other raptors

Your birding days start at sunrise, when the air is calm and the light makes every silhouette easier to identify (and admire).

Days in the Danube Delta

A Completely Different World

Once you reach the Delta, everything slows down and softens — except the birds.
Here, you navigate:

  • calm channels
  • vast lakes
  • reed beds full of movement and sound

You’ll look for:

  • Great White Pelicans & Dalmatian Pelicans
  • herons and egrets everywhere
  • Pygmy Cormorants & Great Cormorants
  • glossy ibis, terns, grebes, and many more species that thrive in these wetlands

From cliffs to pelicans… quite the transition, right?

Our Commitment to Conservation in the Danube Delta

Nature comes first in everything we do. Our tours are designed to minimize impact and protect the delicate ecosystem of the Danube Delta, ensuring that its rich biodiversity thrives for generations to come.

🚤 Eco-Friendly Boating: We use lower-power engines than typically required for our boats. This reduces water disturbance, minimizes fuel consumption and lowers emissions, keeping the Delta’s waters cleaner and healthier.

🐟 Slow-Speed Exploration: Our approach is gentle and respectful. By moving at a slow, steady pace, we:

  • Protect aquatic vegetation, essential for fish breeding and water filtration.
  • Prevent erosion and disturbance to bird nests along the shoreline.
  • Reduce stress on migratory and resident bird species, allowing for natural behavior and better wildlife observation.

🌍 Sustainable Nature Experiences: We believe in responsible tourism that prioritizes conservation over speed. Every tour is an opportunity to admire, respect and learn about this unique biosphere without leaving a harmful footprint.

By choosing our tours, you actively support a more sustainable way of exploring the Danube Delta. Let’s protect nature together, one slow, mindful journey at a time.

Our Commitment to Conservation to Balkan Mountains

This tour is more than just birding – it’s also about conservation. We’ve partnered with FWFF (Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna), the organization managing the Green Balkan Vulture Conservation Project in the area. A part of tour tour fee directly supports their efforts to protect and restore vulture populations in the region.

If you want to make an even bigger impact, you can donate directly to the Green Balkan Vulture Conservation Project managed by FWFF. Your contribution helps fund vulture rehabilitation, rewilding efforts and anti-poaching initiatives in the Balkans.

Every donation, big or small, helps ensure a future for these incredible birds! ❤️
