Danube Delta & Dobrogea Photo Tour 7d/6n SHARED 2026

A Week of Stillness, Light, and Wildlife

Danube Delta – Slow Moments, Golden Light, and Wildlife That Lets You Breathe

Your adventure begins in the peaceful rhythm of the Danube Delta, where photography isn’t about rushing, it’s about waiting for the moment when everything aligns. You explore the waterways in an open boat with no roof or barriers, giving you full freedom to capture birds in flight, low-angle shots over water, and intimate portraits in perfect morning light.
Here you’ll meet pelicans gliding silently at sunrise, herons and egrets lifting off from the reeds, cormorants drying their wings, grebes feeding on calm waters… and with a bit of luck, even otters or golden jackals appearing along the banks.
Every outing is crafted for slow photography, time to anticipate behavior, adjust composition, and let the scene unfold naturally.

Dobrogea – Mobile Hides and Close Encounters With Color and Character

After the wetlands, the tour shifts into the dry hills and warm steppe of Dobrogea, where photography becomes more intimate and controlled. You work from mobile hides placed in front of vibrant colonies of European Bee-eaters and Rollers, two of the most visually striking species in Europe. Their colors, behaviors, and interactions offer endless creative possibilities.
You’ll also photograph European Sousliks, full of charm and personality, popping out of the grass like tiny sentinels. With the soft Dobrogean light and a patient, quiet approach, these sessions create images that feel alive, expressive, and truly personal.

Your Photo Experience

Across seven days, you’ll enjoy six nights of accommodation, half board, and four and a half days fully dedicated to bird and wildlife photography, always starting at sunrise. A professional photographer guides every session, helping you refine technique, understand light, and shoot with intention rather than speed.
The tour starts and ends in Tulcea, with logistics designed to keep the experience smooth, unrushed, and fully focused on creativity.

Departure time from Tulcea, from Port Aval – Tulcea, is at 16:00. We wait for you half an hour before this time, in order to fix payments (if any) and other details. You will go to Mila23 and check in at the guesthouse. The transfer takes 2-2,5 hours. During the transfer, we have enough time to talk about our route, Danube Delta peculiarities, nature photography, rules and behavior in a natural reserve and the program for next two days.

In the evening, the host will wait for you with a traditional dinner based on fish (if you have any food restrictions, please let us know when you make the booking).

Days 2-3-4 – Morning Photo Session | Breakfast | Rest/Free time | Evening Photo Session

Your trip into the Danube Delta will begin early in the morning, before sunrise, to catch its magic light and birds that begin to feed. The morning tour takes about 5-6 hours and you will have the breakfast to go or on return to the accommodation. After the morning session, you will return to the guesthouse to have some rest. With 4 hours before sunset, you will start for the evening session. You will travel to different places in Danube Delta, the routes being decided on a day to day basis, depending on weather conditions, water level and our guides experience. After taking your last shots in the dusk, you will come back to the accommodation. Don’t forget to download your photos and recharge your batteries!

We will be looking for the stars of these places: Pelicans, both the White and the rare Dalmatians. Of course, we will be looking for any kind of bird, starting with the common Little and Great Egrets, Gray, Purple, Yellow, or Night Heron, the agile Kingfisher, the majestic White-tailed Eagle and noisy Coots. We will also look for surf birds or birds that look for food in muddy stretches: Godwits, Spoonbills, Ibises, Ruffs, Stilts and others.

Of course we will not neglect the mammals, we will always seek to find and show you the playful otters, the cautious wild boars, the elegant roe deer, the funny muskrats or the beautiful raccoon dog.

Lunch is optional (you can order it to the guesthouse). Dinner is at the guesthouse.

Day 5 – Breakfast | Transfer to Tulcea | Evening Photo Session

After a relaxed breakfast (8:30 a.m.), this time without sunrise session, you will return to Tulcea, but now, in the morning, you will have the best light for this route. This is a good chance to have good pictures from the fantastic Danube Delta. Around 12:00-12:30 you will be back to Tulcea.

We’ll pick you up from Port Aval, at the returning from the Danube Delta Tour and transfer you to the accommodation in Tulcea. You’ll have some free time for check-in and breakfast then you’ll depart to the afternoon/evening session.

Dinner at the accommodation.

Day 6 – Morning session |  Evening session | Dinner

Early in the morning is the departure to the Bee-eaters place, the guide will let you know the departure hour for this session. When the light will be too harsh for photography, come back to the city, have the breakfast, rest and you’ll picked up again in the afternoon, for the evening session.
