Tour Itinerary

1. Enisala Fortress – The Sentinel of the Lagoons

Your adventure begins in the morning with a scenic drive along the Razelm-Sinoie Lagoon. Along the way, you’ll admire the distant Popina Island, a unique nature reserve.

Upon arrival at Enisala Fortress, you will explore the impressive medieval ruins perched on a hilltop, once guarding important trade routes. Our guide will share fascinating historical facts and local legends that bring this fortress to life.

2. Argamum Fortress – The Oldest Greek Settlement?

Next, continue to Argamum Fortress, an ancient site that rivals Histria for the title of the oldest settlement in Romania. Located on the shore of Lake Razelm, this picturesque location is home to the oldest Greek tomb discovered in the Black Sea region. Here, history and breathtaking nature blend seamlessly.

3. Lunch Break – A Taste of Dobogea (Optional)

For lunch, we offer two options:

• Enjoy an authentic local meal at a guesthouse in Jurilovca or Lunca.
• Bring your own packed meal, and we will stop for a picnic in a scenic spot.

4. Histria Fortress – The First Greek Colony in Dobogea

After lunch, visit Histria Fortress, an ancient city founded by the Greeks in the 7th century BC. You will explore the archaeological site and the Histria Museum, which houses an impressive collection of amphorae, bas-reliefs, altars, and the remains of the Great Temple’s marble façade.

Return to Tulcea

The journey back to Tulcea is a relaxing ride through rolling hills, open plains, and rows of walnut trees, a perfect ending to your historical adventure.
