Discover with our guides the wildness of the Danube Delta, beautifully outlined by canals and lakes, the simplicity and naturalness of the village Letea and, last but not least, the famous subtropical forest Letea.
Join a GROUP of up to 10 people for a day trip in the Danube Delta, departing from Tulcea towards Letea village.
This trip is made with an OPEN BOAT, without roof, tarpaulin or windows. We want to show you the wild and beautiful Danube Delta, so that you can see the birds flying and can freely admire the spirals of the pelican flocks that raise up onto the hot air columns (we will tell you more on the spot).
The price is per person, it is expressed in euro (EUR) and includes VAT.
7:45 a.m. – Meeting at the boarding point | 8:00 a.m. – Departure from Tulcea (by boat) | at about 7:00 p.m. – Return to the boarding point in Tulcea
For this trip, we start from Port Tulcea Aval, at 8:00 a.m. After passing the barriers from the port entrance, at a distance of 200 meters, there is the pontoon that says “DEBARCADER PASAGERI (passengers’ wharf)”. On the pontoon you’ll find us in the Souvenir Store.
For finalizing the payments (if any) and the communication regarding the boat with which you will go to Letea, we are waiting for you at 7:45 a.m.
The boarding will be done according to the indications of our staff. You will be called out and you will be indicated the boat you are going with. Please do NOT board the first boat you find at the pontoon, from this place several companies board and you risk getting to another location.
The trip takes about 10-11 hours.
Our travel speed is average, which is ideal for our trips, where you will notice the finest details of the places you will pass. We will stop on every occasion, whether it is about a bird, a flower, a landscape or a story that the guide has to tell you.
The route starts from one of the most beautiful areas of the Danube Delta, Garla Sontea, we descend on channel 36, Garla Sireasa, Garla Sontea, until we reach the village Mila 23, where we take a short break, for coffee and going to the toilet, then we hit the road towards Letea through the lakes: Radacinos, Trei Iezere , Bogdaproste (when the water level allows this), we descend on the Old Danube, the Madgearu Canal and reach the village Letea. A safari car is waiting for us at the mooring point, for a visit to Letea Forest, the northernmost subtropical forest in Europe. There is a distance of about 7 km between the village and the forest, a road that we travel by car and then walking about 20-30 minutes, on the route approved by ARBDD (Administration of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve). We are looking for wild horses, oaks grown on salty sand and other attractions of the place (depending on the season), we walk through the fine sand. We return to the village where we can eat lunch (optional) at an authentic local household, where the hosts cook simply and traditionally. After lunch we return to the boat for going back, through lakes and canals, towards Tulcea, on another route. We will arrive to the boarding point around the 7:00 PM.
*Depending on the season, the water level and the weather conditions, the guide will decide which the best route to follow is.
What we will see – We always seek to tell you something about the places we go, about the birds and the flora of the Delta, crowds of birds and places with specific flora to the season during which we make the trip. Each season has its beauty, each area of the Delta has its own specificity, and we will help you discover it.
