Discover with us the Lipovan village Mila 23, the most developed tourist destination in the wonderful Danube Delta, on a route that includes the areas where the great champion Ivan Patzaikin had trained.
Join a GROUP of up to 10 persons for a day trip in the Danube Delta, departing from Tulcea to the Mila 23 village.
This trip is made with an OPEN BOAT, without roof, tarpaulin or windows. We want to show you the wild and beautiful Danube Delta, so that you can see the birds flying and can freely admire the spirals of the pelican flocks that raise up onto the hot air columns (we will tell you more on the spot).
The price is per person, it is expressed in Euro (EUR) and includes VAT.
9:45 a.m. – Meeting at the boarding point | 10:00 a.m. – Departure from Tulcea (by boat) | at about 5:00 p.m. – Return to the boarding point in Tulcea
For this trip, we start from Port Tulcea Aval, at 10:00 a.m. After passing the barriers from the port entrance, at a distance of 200 meters, there is the pontoon that says “DEBARCADER PASAGRI (passengers’ wharf)”. On the pontoon you’ll find us in the Souvenir Store.
For finalizing the payments (if any) and the communication regarding the boat with which you will go to Mila 23, we are waiting for you at 9:45 a.m.
The boarding will be done according to the indications of our staff. You will be called out and you will be indicated the boat you are going with. Please do NOT board the first boat you find at the pontoon, from this place several companies board and you risk getting to another location.
The trip takes about 6-7 hours.
Our travel speed is average, which is ideal for our trips, where you will notice the finest details of the places you will pass. We will stop on every occasion, whether it is about a bird, a flower, a landscape or a story that the guide has to tell you.
The route: We start from Tulcea, descend on Tulcea Canal to the intersection with the Canal 36 (within about 10 minutes from the departure we are already in the Danube Delta), descend on Canal 36 and then turn right onto Sireasa Canal, areas which are very rich in fauna living in the Danube Delta (birds and water animals). We continue the trip on Sontea Canal, among flooded areas, full of birds and aquatic vegetation. Here we will have the opportunity to see white and yellow water lilies, swans, coots, ducks, geese, common spoonbills, black-tailed godwits, ibis and pelicans.
We then cross the Fortuna lake, one of the largest lakes of the Danube Delta, an especially beautiful and fauna-rich lake. In the case of days with strong wind and big waves, we will avoid this lake. The guide is the one to decide if the group crosses the lake or not.
We then cross the Olguta canal and reach Mila 23, right in the middle of the Danube Delta. The duration of this route is about 3 hours. At Mila 23 we can visit the village, we can eat a traditional fishing lunch in an authentic, Lipovan household (optional). After lunch we set off on the return road, mostly on the same route as on departure, but we assure you that in the opposite direction everything looks completely different.
We will arrive to the boarding point in Tulcea at around 5:00 p.m.
*Depending on the season, the water level and the weather conditions, the guide will decide which the best route to follow is.
What you will see – We always seek to tell you something about the places we go, about the birds and the flora of the Delta, crowds of birds and places with the specific flora to the season during which we make the trip. Each season has its beauty, each area of the Delta has its own specificity, and we will help you to discover it.
Please take this equipment very seriously, as the weather in the Danube Delta can be very capricious and you can suffer if you are not well protected.
